Today is the 34th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. So I'd like to make this thread a place to share memories and thoughts about Elvis.

I never got a chance to see him in real life because he died before I was born. But he's one of my musical heroes. He really is »The King«! And I'm sure he's still alive, because ELVIS LIVES in our hearts!

My favorite song is »If I Can Dream« from the 1968 Comeback Special.

Without ELVIS, we wouldn't have got the god-like being called "BILLY IDOL", who took heavy inspiration from him. So yes, all hail ELVIS, the king of kings. 8-)

Happy Birthday!
"If I Can Dream" is an AMAZING song! A most wonderful choice for favorite Elvis song! He really sings that song so beautifully in the 68 comeback special! I think that may be the best! I've always loved the way he sang songs like "Kentucky Rain".

That is exactly what I feel. I love the 68 Comeback Special and there's no song that's more touching than »If I can dream«. There are so many songs and genres he did more than fantastic. Especially the gospel songs are great.

This year he would have been 77 years old.

Elvis is very special to me although I never got the chance to see him live. But I was born three and a half month after he passed away. Maybe some of his spirit flowed into me, so that his voice touches me so deeply.

In 2000 I was to the concert with Elvis on screen (the last concert tour, I think). If you've never seen Elvis live on stage, that is the closest you can ever get! It was amazing!
