What's the purpose(s) of Eddie (Junior) in the team? I always liked this character, even if he looks often useless from a Ghostbusting stand-point.
His uniform is the best. I dig it. Love the helmet.
Let's sum-up his abilities and accomplishments... right now!

It's weird sometimes he's bumbling all around and scared and then other times he's gumming and zapping ghosts as good as Jake. Eddie always learns from his mistakes. His constant messing up made for plenty of moral segments at the end of the episodes. He really just does want to do good and help and can't help he's clumsy sometimes.

Eddie is cool and did an incredible job ruining Haunt Quarters once. (I just watched this episode so I had to mention that.) ;D He is a good example for the kids at home because they experience through him how you can learn from your own mistakes. This is an important lesson for everyone.

NOT ONLY: being Jake so fantastic and "above average", I think Eddie represents the "everyman" able to overcome odds. I mean, even if he has no incredible/outstanding skills, he is willing to make his job in the best way possible... and sometimes he succeeds!

Yes, Jake seems quite perfect in everything and I think Eddie would be like that too but it doesn't work. I like him because of that.

Prime Evil, Apparitia:
Thought I'd tell both of you that part of the idea with Eddie is, in my opinion, that he's quite smart and a capable Ghostbuster when Jake's otherwise incapacitated, and that it's Jake's nearly superheroic presence that hinders Eddie.

I think it's normal not to be able to show all your abilites and potential you have when there is someone around who is as smart as Jake, so I agree. Eddie did some incredible things in the show what makes the two of them a great team. And not to forget: Tracy!

Yeah, in a way he's just a "back-up"... but sometimes he seems the "lead". Tracy is superior to both of them, anyway. Skills, genius, physical attributes... and experience!

He is down to earth, humble and willing to learn.

Yes, Jake seems quite perfect in everything and I think Eddie would be like that too but it doesn't work. I like him because of that. If FGB ever got revived, I think the Jake/Eddie relationship would be given a slightly darker twist, with Jake being something of a bully (though more on the "arrogant" side of it) at times--in this way, he and Prime Evil would be so much alike--but, when Jake gets his comeuppance, Eddie doesn't hesitate to go in and save him, and everyone comes away having learned something.

Sounds like the plotline of a Reboot "pilot episode".

I realize I'm extremely late in replying to an old thread, but I've only recently found this forum. I just wanted to add to the Eddie love. I'll take him over Jake ANY day!
