Wow, a new Ghostbusters movie is on production! Arooga! read here on Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_3#Future_filmOn a more serious point, this would be the beginning of a new Renaissance era for the Ghostbusters genre... and who knows.. who knows... maybe even Jake Kong and Prime Evil could have something to say? Oh well, this depends on how things will go! Go Go Ghostbunglers!

I'll be honest, I've been busy with Sony's Ghostbusters Wiki lately thanks to the game. It looks more likely everyday that a third movie is coming. While at it don't forget to check this out: www.ghostbusters.com/. Talk about neat. Yeah The Sony Ghostbusters Franchise is officially going again.

I watch at the global thing: if Ghostbusters will become again a fashion, people will look back as majors do, and maybe old serials will be reproposed, Sony GBs will be surely rediscovered/reinvented, but I would be glad if even FGBs could be rediscovered and restyled anew... alas, now that Filmation is no more, we should hope that someone interested in the brand step forward to buy it... ALWAYS hoping that do not completely maiming it for the love of cash!
Feh!

As for Sony brand Ghostbusters....I'm leaning on thinking of it as a next generation thing. Other than the Game coming out, I'm sure there are new ghostbusters in the works. Probably that will be the main pitch for Ghostbusters III, then a new animated series will be made. (No not related to The Real Ghostbusters)

BOOMERANG MEDIA got the rights now. I didn't see that coming, really, but a third Sony movie could also benefit our Ghostbusters as well, it's plausible. A renaissance, sure. They could start from re-airing both the FGB series on some private channel, there in America. That could be a great "new" beginning. So I hope.

Yeah the 3rd movie is pretty much happening and according to Ivan Reitman the script will be turned in, In about a month.
Who Knows if they make a new animated Aykroyd GB show you could all be right. It may spark up enough interest to bring back the FGB's. As far as animated show go I actually happen to know two individuals who have been working hard on a pitch for a new Sony GB animated series! From what I have seen it sounds pretty good they are hoping to get it to Sony soon. I guess it all depends on how the game and everything goes!
I honestly believe if it was done right and had some awesome character designs a new FGB series could actually take off! What I am afraid of is that is been over 20 years since the show was out and some how someone from either party will dish out some major cash and try and some crossover or tie it in to the Proton pack wielding GB's universe!

Fibface, I must be honest. I don't see any new FGB series happening, not now, not in the future. BUT this new RGB movie will renew enough interest to bring FGB back on American TVs. And BOOMERANG MEDIA will take the chance and reprint the DVD sets all around the world, that's my biggest feeling. Well, I see a victory coming... however.

Who knows? Maybe someone will have the bright idea to make an FGB movie, at which point I just send them my treatment and say "okay, get someone to make this into a screenplay!"

Two years ago thats what the fans of Sony's Ghostbusters thought. I really feel its all about what Lou wants.

Ok you said its about what Lou wants! Well that's what happened with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman! They all hold rights to the Ghostbusters franchise apart from Sony. Its one of the reasons Ghostbusters 3 was never made of seriously considered until now.
Because of the video game coming out next week it got everyone excited about working together again on screen! In the past only Dan Aykroyd had been the only force behind the movie getting made! Also look now there is a grip load of merchandise being released this year, such as action figures with the likeness of the actual actors, other various toys, ornaments, clothing, ect. There has not been this much Ghostbuster stuff released in this capacity since the cartoon and a good 85% of the stuff being sold was soley based on the cartoon not the movies!
Now there has been tons of horrible lesser known franchises that were absolutely atrocities that reached cult statis and earned a seat in film or tv history with tons of merchandise and various spinoffs, straight to video stuff, ect. Well that's more than FGB has right now and its a d**n good franchise that had quality and the best of peoples creative juices, not to mention their heart and soul put into it.
Who knows if we were to glorify FGB online like how Sony GB's were and if there was enough interest what reason would there be to not give it the respect it deserves like all the horrible franchises that have been given a chance.
So basically if the fanbase is there and the desire maybe not a feature film, but definitely something would happen to bring it back on a whole new level!

Actually, it was a HUGE and scandalous surprise to discover that FGBs had no virtual fanbase or Internet praise, that's why I built this place at the time. I still don't understand why there is no cult status. Biggest shame.
