Well I hope that the "Real" Ghostbusters / Movie fans are finally because they finally got their precious RGB on DVD. In a complete series set with a lot of bonus features. I'm not trying to start anything, but I just hope they are finally happy now. Since they were complaining so badly about our Ghostbusters getting the DVD treatment first.

Yes they are happy... ... their DVDs have a lower video/audio quality and some discrepancies... ;D ;D ;D Okay, it's nobody's fault. Anyway, our DVDs are far better in terms of video/audio quality, and that's it.

The people over at Toonzone are gushing big time about this release.
On a un-related note I think my posting career over there is finished. I have been a member of that forum since 2002 and I just never really felt like anyone cared about my opinions.
Also I lot of the things I like such as 80s cartoons, He-Man (the original), cartoons based on toylines and Filmation are always getting bashed over there.
Sadly I can't even make any topic on FGB because the mods would probably come up with a lame excuse to close it. I really tried to promote the site there but sadly no one cares about FGB on Toonzone.

Toon Capone,
How do you know they would close the thread? Try for the last time, pal... open a thread on this forum and the FGBs. I'm sure few fans/potential Go-ers are there, buddy!

The people over at Toonzone are gushing big time about this release. The original master tapes suck, and they did no restoration. PLUS, the cartoon itself is horrid. Just a cheap capitalization of the "original" 1984 movie. Terrible.

I'll admit - I had my pre-order in for this set back in October. (Used my birthday money to get it). TimeLife and the guys that put it together really did a wonderful job. Back when it was first mentioned that a set was going to be put out, I was a little leary. The FGB sets had been done so well - cleaned up, plently of extras, etc. that I even mentioned on a now closed Columbia GB forum that the RGB set had better have tons of extras (like FGB) or I wouldn't buy it. I personally think they came through with flying colors.
I really have no anamosity for either franchise. I personally don't think that FGB would have made a come-back or had a cartoon if the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters" hadn't been such a success. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it for what it was.
It's funny, I just got the book "Making Ghostbusters" which has the full shooting script for the movie with annotations about the back story. Even while they were filming, they had no idea what they were actually going to call the movie. Then they filmed the scene near the end where the Ghostbusters pull up to Dana's apartment building for the final showdown. Well, the extras started screaming "Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters." So one of the producers/a*sistant directors(?) got on the phone and told his team that they HAD to get him the name rights.
EDIT: and back to the name of the topic. Yes - I'm very happy to have this set in my hand

I bet they just casted a bunch of genius nerds, because how on hell did that name pop-up so easily? ;D

You raise a good question though. It doesn't go into detail in the book why the extras started screaming that particular name.

I don't have anamosity against any RGB / movie fans either. However, they are the ones who are always bashing our series and I'm just tired of it.
