We just totally bypassed/forgot the undeniable fact wherever the series is fictionally set*, there are ancient castles everywhere around the town.
*We previously established it's NEW YORK or a place very near.

AFAIK, there's only the one haunted castle/mansion. However, the fact is, there's also a big graveyard on the plot of land. That's a lot of dead people, and a lot of ghost-energy (or PsychoKineticEnergy, or whatever you want to call it) for the denizens of the Spirit World to draw strength from after they pop into our world. So much so, in fact, that the Haunted Castle becomes the interdimensional oasis point for ghosts. The Ghost Busters' job is to send them back into their plane before they can gather any more strength and wreak havoc on the outside world.

To be perfectly honest, it felt like the show didn't want people to think the sets thru too much. I'd argue that while it is much easier to say its the same place, the scripts throw the words castle, mansion, house, and a few other terms. The 70's show used the same sets every show and I think they wanted the fans to just work with it.
