I am really tired of the hate that Filmation's Ghostbusters receives especially from RGB fans.
Really why do they do it? Does it make them feel good to bash the cartoon? Do they really feel that their series is more superior then FGB?
So why do you guys think that people especially RGB and movie fans have to constantly bash FGB?

I think whether some people realize it or not, it's a little bit of spite. I think some people are a bit bothered and upset that this Ghostbusters came first. Whether they know it or not, that's the way a lot if it comes across.
Some people probably haven't even seen an episode and say "OMG a gorilla? That's stupid" Others were probably a little older when they saw it and didn't care for it. Some people just don't like it and it probably reinforces their childhood memories and liking the Real Ghostbusters to put something else down.

Just be glad you've never heard some of the debates regarding "Classic Doctor Who vs. New Doctor Who." Ay-yi-yi...the headaches.

WHY THE HATE? Because their I.Q. is much lower than ours. Even worse, their artistic sensibility is sub-par too. Plain and simple. I don't wanna be the "evil guy" here, but I'm tired of the usual "Columbia's Ghostbusters" fans's crap we are forced to smell everyday. The very first 'The Ghost Busters' live action TV series is a brillant masterwork of comedian sci-fi, yet they fail to recognize that the Columbia's Ghostbusters stole many ideas from our favourite show, not only the name. Okay, Filmation did the cartoon as slick answer to Columbia's association with DIC, but 'The Original Ghostbusters' turned out as a fantastic, visionary comedian/sci-fi cartoon full of spirit, passion and outstanding ideas. STILL, they insist it's a silly product and keep celebrating their "Real Ghostbusters" garbage. Finally, I must say they showed an indecent amount of hostility and lack of respect towards US, this FORUM and our PASSION... and I'm going to backlash. ;D

I don't wanna be the "evil guy" Well, you will insist on going around wearing a long red robe and a mask that looks like a robotic skull, so you've nobody to blame for that but yourself. ;D

It is sad that there must be hate at all. To love a TV show, movie, video game or whatever should be only fun and no reason to fight about. Unhappily some people can't accept another person's views and want to persuade others to see things their way. But it's impossible because there isn't always a right or wrong in discussions. Everyone has own memories and feelings about a thing what should be accepted. WE love FGB and we should enjoy that! If others don't accept that, it would be better to get in touch with people who share our opinion than discuss with FGB haters. It really isn't worth all the trouble. I used to watch RGB too when I was young but I prefer FGB with its awesome villains and heros.

Apparitia, FACT IS, they insist the quality of the "Real" series was far better than ours. I don't agree at all. To me, Filmation delivered a superior series in all the departments. From the basic concept to the animation, from the visuals to the characters. Everything was perfect. Filmation's Ghostbusters created a whole mythology. Overall, they (the RGB fans) just hate to admit that FILMATION created the Ghostbusters, back in 1975. The core concept, the humour, the basic ideas... and the name... everything was already there. It's a candy hard to swallow...

I don't agree with them either. My favorite cartoons were always made by Filmation and I don't know anything else I love that much. They just had the best ideas. RGB isn't as enjoyable as FGB for me.

I agree with Apparitia. The best cartoons were always those of Filmation. The scenes were always the best, enviable by any other cartoon. Do not forget the moral education at the end of each episode ... perfect for an audience of children! Today, cartoons are no longer so ...

What everyone's saying on here is true, but the biggest problem I have with FGB is that it seems a little too "safe" for its own good. Which is to say, there's never really any sense of Prime Evil being a threat--"Mummy Dearest" is kind of the closest he's ever gotten to being so.
I will admit, perhaps Filmation didn't think it right for FGB to be a serious action/adventure thing, but there just needed to be a slight element of risk there, with the evil plans only being stopped in the nick of time by a team of Ghostbusters who have finally figured out the enemy's weakness.

Yeah, you're right, but keep in mind FILMATION cartoons were all "safe", in the way they depicted a sense of wonder and pure, adventurous "escapism". FILMATION is total genius. Everything was perfect. To me, FILMATION cartoons represent (lost) innocence. I wouldn't change anything about them, they are the "mirror" of my lost childhood. Violence? We have plenty of it in the Real World. Give me a GHOSTBUSTERS episode everyday, instead.

Sometimes Prime Evil could be really mean and cruel, but most of the time he was just funny. I enjoy all scenes with him because of that. I'm a huge fan of horror movies, so it's nice to have something "safe" to watch for a change too. My father and aunt used to see Filmation Cartoons with my younger brother and me because they loved them so much. And if I watch them today I'm feeling more than happy. I must admit it is my most favourite memory of my childhood.

I admit, seeing Prime Evil reduced to begging Jake to take Eddie back does have me in stitches every time.

I wonder why Prime Evil didn't take care of Eddie himself. It was the same with his sister and her little brat. If someone shows up to your "home", acting like she did, it would be totally ok to throw this person out. I'm sure he is more powerful than her, unless she calls him Itchy, of course^^
