What the heck were Jake and Eddie doing before Episode 1? I bet Jake was 32 and Eddie 28 at the time they donned the uniforms. Maybe they got different jobs.
And Tracy? Were the original Ghost Busters fully active at that point?

I believe that they were not anything particular before, at least so it seems...

Perhaps Jake and Eddie were working in the "office" part of Ghostbusting, taking care of paperwork, filing, etc. which might explain why Ghost Command is in the state it's in during Episode 1 (and the rest of the series). When their fathers took them into the cave, they were completing the last stage of their training (though anyone who can throw a railroad tie one-handed has no need to even *consider* retirement.

I think your guess is right, maybe they were reconsidering the idea to become Ghostbusters from the start... About the retirmenet thing, who knows... since the original Ghost Busters must have been rejuvenated by some magic spell... (!!!)

i think the message is clear, we can be heroes just for one day like bowie used to sing, jake and eddie were everymen turned into superheroes from day to night and that was a great message if you ask me, so it doesn't really matter what job they had before their glorious days as ghostbusters.

so it doesn't really matter what job they had before their glorious days as ghostbusters. Probably not...but then, coming up with explanations is part of the fun of being a fan! You should see the amount of material the "other guys" have. There's mountains of stuff! (Of course, said "other guys" have far less unexplained stuff than we do...)

Are you referring to the fan fiction? That's quite fun, if you ask me. I love conjectures. And yes, we GO-ERS have to deal with a ridiculously HUGE amount of dilemmas... ;D

Are you referring to the fan fiction? That's quite fun, if you ask me. I love conjectures. Sort of. The "other guys" have an entire fact checklist which painstakingly lays out the entire Columbia GB timeline, including fanfic "franchises". Quite true, that: it's one of the reasons why we can't really make a set-in-stone timeline like the one above; Our Heroes (and villains) have altered and re-corrected their timeline so often it's barely recognizable anymore. ;D

We CAN'T write a timeline, yes, it would be an headache to say the least.
Seems like the universe FILMATION created is much more complex than what it seems... ;D

Prime - maybe this is explained elsewhere - but how did you calculate the ages for Jake and Eddie? Just curious.

one thing is for sure they were unemployed... Or perhaps they'd just gotten out of college/university, and their fathers called them back to NYC in anticipation of a new wave of hauntings.

Certain academic fields are more indepth, Prime Good. It might have taken them a very long time to earn the degrees they were looking for.
