I just thought I'd start a thread whereby we could post artwork (or whatever) of our conceptions of the FGB world. Imagine if someone gave you, for example, the vaguest, most bare-bones description of some of their equipment, or even the ghosts themselves. How would you imagine it to "look" given that description?

I have a few old little drawings I did of Jake and Eddie I'll have to post sometime! Nothing special, I forget how old I was mid teens I think.

Way cool, Zack. As for me, I have some concepts for Prime Evil and his ghosts in mind. I think they'll be looking like a very strange "Hellraiser meets Power Rangers, with a little bit of Time Bandits" kind of design, but leaning more towards the humorous than the monstrous.

I think I'll be working on a Steampunk-themed Dematerializer over the weekend. I have an idea about how it's going to work, and...well, I won't spoil it here! Stay tuned to this thread for more!

I LOVE Steampunk... you're going to create a masterwork, I can almost "sense" it. What a terrific thread...

Well, I suppose I'll have to describe it, so that I can refer back to the idea when I begin. It literally looks like an old camera used during the time period, except it has a lot more "toys" added to it--dials, knobs, a mini-Frankenstein Switch, a telescopic sniper-scope (pure Back to the Future III) and a bunch of light-bulbs and steam gauges.
Do you think the FGB timeline--or any reasonable facsimile thereof--could extend back into the 19th Century, with Eddie's (great?) grandfather having visions in his dreams of a way to defeat ghosts?

Here we go, then...Messrs. Spenser and Kong's Ghost-Dematerializing Camera! Be aware that I have a few more concepts in mind for this, one of which is a cross-section of its insides. More pictures forthcoming.

Great design, but I still think Zero brought the machines from the far, far future. Anyway, I like your design, that's cla*sic stuff. You know...

Great design, but I still think Zero brought the machines from the far, far future. Anyway, I like your design, that's cla*sic stuff. You know... FANWANK: Perhaps 19th Century Spenser and Kong built the first example what could conceivably be called the "Ghost Dematerializer", HOWEVER, they didn't consider themselves Ghostbusters during that time--Spenser was considered by many to be a mad scientist, a "harmless eccentric" with his head in the clouds, and the lack of ghostly activity only cemented this reputation in people's minds, including his and Kong's descendents, at least until the present day... It wasn't until their (great?) grandsons started working together in the '60s and '70s that Mr. Zero finally realized that their paths had crossed once before and, understanding that ghosts were only just starting to make their imprint upon OUR dimension that he decided to do something about it, sending Tracy along with the Dematerializer Mark I. (NOTE: I just love the idea that Tracy comes from the future as well, starting out as [possibly] Mr. Zero's lab technician. The timeline is starting to come together, methinks!)

Is this fan fiction? Did they mention these ancestors in one out of the two FGB series? (NOTE: I just love the idea that Tracy comes from the future as well, starting out as [possibly] Mr. Zero's lab technician. The timeline is starting to come together, methinks!) f**k, I never thought about it! That's brilliant... So Tracy would be a magic-rejuvenated mutant gorilla from the future ;D ;D ;D

They did mention the 19th-Century ancestors during the series. However, no mention of the Steampunk Dematerializer was ever made. I posit that, after Jake's great-grandfather (the Sheriff) nearly became a werewolf, he sought out someone else who had experiences with the supernatural. He later met Spenser and helped him out with the weapon he was building. 2. "Magic-rejuvenated"? No, Tracy was merely sent from the future...although his IQ level has been augmented so that he can build the GB equipment and have such a keen grasp on quantum physics [the teleporters he builds in various episodes of the Animated Series].

1- Is there evidence that Jake's ancestor (the sheriff) became a Ghostbuster/Ghost Hunter of some sort? By the way, are you referring to Eddie's ancestor mentioned in the live action series? 2- I was referring to the "gap" between the 1975 series and the 1986 cartoon, of course.

That's the fanfiction part. I'd have to watch the live-action series again to find out about Eddie's ancestor...which episode is it? 2. IMO, Tracy was already quite young when he worked with Spenser and Kong, Sr. There's not really a need for him to be rejuvenated...of course, there's always the possibility of a magic-induced change in fur color [from black in the '75 series to brown in the '86 series]!
