Yes, okay, I'm a psycho when coming to preservation of the classics I love. Since both the series are recognized classics (and masterpieces), even when BCI Eclipse would stop to produce Ghostbusters/Ghost Busters DVD sets, just think that: 1- By this time (2008), the sets have been released one year ago... barely. They are still "fresh" and will be that for some years to come. 2- UNSOLD DVD sets will be ordered by purchasers and/or channeled into shops in the years to come. 3- According to 'BCI GUY' (a popular member of the HE-MAN.ORG forum, working for the company), when rights of the American DVD releases will be over, BCI Eclipse would "return" the restored and remastered digitalized products to Filmation. (Filmation = 'ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS'). So - despite the DVD sets are not an instant success - it looks like both the series are definitely "preserved" and will be technically available for the many decades to come.

Was there ever any doubt? I tell you what: as long as "Who ya gonna call?" is followed by "Ghostbusters!" then "Let's go, GHOSTBUSTERS!!!" will always follow suit. It NEVER fails. (* cue animation of broadly grinning FGB logo*)

(Filmation = 'ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS'). I made a research. 'ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS' owns the two GHOSTBUSTERS series and most (if not all) Filmation's back catalogue. BCI is just distributing it in America. So everything will come back to 'ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS' for future DVD releases.

New infos on the subject, thanks to BCI GUY from the HE-MAN.ORG forum: "Hallmark transferred all of the elements to digital files years ago. They did some remastering and restoration to most of the titles at that time. Some they spent more money for more extensive restoration, some not as much. When they were finished, they trashed/destroyed all the original elements, so all that exists now are the digital files, so we'll probably never see them better than they are now, since they can't start the process over again. It's an expensive and time consuming process and that's why you see most 80s cartoons on DVD have not had it done."
